One of Central Illinois most influential DJs Greg "2 Hype" is quickly becoming one of the Midwest's most in-demand DJs. He was introduced to Chicago's Underground Music Culture during the late 80's/early 90's while frequenting several roller rinks throughout the Southside of Chicago. It all started with Classics Freestyle Hip-Hop Hip-House House and Techno. Greg discovered his mentors Bad Boy Bill Julian Jumpin' Perez and Tim Spinnin' Schommer on the 'B96 Streetmix'. The 'B96 Streetmix' was and is still considered to be one of the most prestigious radio mix shows in the country.
Greg made his Chicago debut at the young age of 17 during the later part of 1998. His blend of Chicago/Los Angeles Hard-House and Booty/Ghetto House with unbelievable scratches always left crowds asking for more. Greg landed his first club residency at 'The Playground' just a few months after his Chicago debut. He performed alongside friends and mentors Candi DJ Aladdin Mixin' Marc Tim Spinnin' Schommer Tim "Too Hype" and To Kool Chris. Greg performed at countless clubs events and parties including Chasers and Club Fever from 1998-2000.
Greg moved from Chicago to Central Illinois in 2000. His musical direction began to fade into the Global Underground after being influenced by Bad Boy Bill Jes One and Richard "Humpty" Vission. Greg landed his first radio residency on 'Masters In The Mix' on WCRX 88.1FM after a few guest spots with friends Jackin' Jamie and Pump Boy Lee in 2001. Greg moved on to become a resident DJ on 'Radio-Active' on WXAJ-FM 99.7 KISS-FM with friends DJ Orion and DNY in 2002. Greg has also done countless guest spots on various mix shows across the country.
Greg began DJing and promoting nights at 'The High Dive' in Champaign IL with friends DJ Impact DJ Mertz and Rob Velez in 2003. Greg also began doing promotions for Astralwerks and System Recordings throughout the Midwest. He was re-united with legendary Chicago DJ/Producer/Remixer DJ Trajic by another Chicago DJ/Producer/Remixer Jon Kennedy during the later part of 2003. Greg signed with Nemek Records not just as an Artist/DJ but as Director of Marketing & Promotions as well in 2004. He is currently working on the legal mix compilation 'Global Insomnia – Flight 101' with DJ Trajic as well as several other projects to be revealed in the forthcoming months.
Techno legend Frankie Bones said "As we grow older the legendary names are misunderstood by a younger generation that cannot relate". In most cases that couldn't be more correct. In Greg's case being exposed to the Underground Music Culture at such a young age has given him the knowledge and skills he needs to be successful throughout his career.
