Straight from Chicago planet Krypton of dee-jays emerges homegrown superman talent…Dj Mig
In more than a decade of mixing Dj Mig’s unique style has evolved to focus on programming and arrangement between genres of deep jazzy vocal hard and Latin house music. Live instrument sounds mixed with cutting edge electronica flavor Mig’s vibe. “I focus on making the instruments from each record I play compliment each other to enhance the sound experience.”
Woven into Dj Mig’s sets you’ll hear influences of industry greats like Bebel Gilberto Boris Dulough Cajmere Derrick Carter The Gypsy Kings J.J. Flores Santana Mousse T. Osulande Russ Gabriel and Masters at Work- just some of the artists who have inspired Dj Mig’s career.
Following the successful path of others in the field Mig began as a mobile dee-jay playing at parties for friends and family to gain experience and exposure. By the early 90s Mig was flaunting his scratching skills and flexing his spinning tricks in dee-jay battle throughout the city. Soon he was spending nights and weekends promoting parties through his own company High Impulse Productions. This foray into the business side of nightlife only solidified Mig’s desire to get back on the performance side. “Seeing how deeply music affects people how deeply it touches us what a powerful tool it is I realized that I had to focus all of my energy on my craft. I believe I was put on earth to move people through music- and to make them move!”
Dj Mig honed his performance and presentation of underground music during residencies at hot spots like The Orbit Room. At Nitro Mig perfected the art of captivating an audience under the teaching of Mike “Hitman” Wilson renowned dj producer and second-generation Hot Mix 5 member.
In the late 90s Dj Mig sharpened his understanding of underground dance music working for Bad Boy Bill’s Mix Connection Multimedia. By 2002 Dj Mig was ready to burst undeniably onto the scene being granted the honor of opening for legendary house music dj and producer Kerri Chandler in Chicago.
Today you’ll find Dj Mig spinning his singular fusion of blended sounds and spicy beats in marathon sets creating vibes and music to make people move from the intimate VIP lounges of some of Chicago’s most exclusive venues to the intoxicating dancefloors of city’s hottest clubs.
Seasoned by some of the best in the business and cultured in the house music capital of the world Mig spins to mature diverse sophisticated crowds with open minds and flowing bodies.
